An Outdoor Learning Environment for All Children
It has long been the dream of Dr. Linda Paul to provide an outdoor classroom for our toddlers and preschoolers to enrich learning experiences. All early childhood curriculum can be presented in an outdoor environment. This new “classroom” provides opportunities to teach about caring for and preserving the environment. An outdoor classroom is an exciting and hands-on way to teach children how plants grow and how animals survive in their natural habitat. Children love to mill in the soil digging up worms and run about chasing butterflies.
Over several years, the Building Blocks Parents’ Group spearheaded efforts to raise funds and garnish volunteers to further this effort and this past spring Dr. Paul’s vision became a reality. In June Building Blocks held a dedication ceremony for children, parents and faculty. Building Blocks would like to thank the many people who helped to make this dream come true. It is truly an outdoor learning environment for all children.
This outdoor classroom was dedicated to Dr. Linda Paul in honor of her retirement after 21 years of service to the children and families of Building Blocks. It will serve as a lasting legacy to her tireless commitment to the education of young children.
