To kick off the Building Blocks Book Fair a pajama party was planned. Children and their parents were invited to return to school wearing their pajamas and taking along their favorite stuffed animal to enjoy an evening of bedtime stories. Literary favorites such as Clifford the Big Red Dog, the Cat in the Hat and Mother Goose were all on hand to read. Much to the delight of children and parents, Raggedy Anne and Andy put many books to music and everyone sang along. Many staff members lent their talents as dramatic readers bringing to life such stories as Pete the Cat, Inside the House That Was Haunted, There Was an Old Lady Who Wasn’t Afraid of Anything, Marty and the Long-Necked Giraffe, The Night Before Halloween, the Big Green Monster, the Spooky Wheels on the Bus, The Leaves on the Trees are Falling Down, the Fire Truck Book, and the Big Book of Nursery Rhymes. Milk and cookies were served and sleepy-eyed parents (oops! I mean children) headed home for a dream-filled night’s sleep.
